Iguanas, Anyone? (from Netleeks)

 Have you discovered NETLEEKS?

It's a cool new website that lets you create a mini-page - many mini-pages, in fact - with links out to any other pages that you want to let folks know about.  It's awfully quick and easy to use. And, you can include pictures, too.  Even affiliate links, if that's what you want to do.

I did a page about iguanas on NETLEEKS earlier today, if you want to see an example.  It took less than 15 minutes to do it. How's that for quick and easy?  The link above, titled "Iguanas, Anyone?" will take you to it if  you want to see what it looks like.

Ernest Hemingway's Cats

Hemingway House, Key West, CC

Ernest Hemingway
July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961

Saturday is the birthdate of Ernest Hemingway, one of the favorite writers of all time.

Did you know Hemingway (whose middle name was Miller) left a feline legacy in Key West?  He did.  The author had a favorite cat, Snowball, reportedly given him by a sea captain friend.  Snowball was a polydactyl.  Yep, a polydatyl cat.  He had extra toes, apparently considered good luck by seamen, and Hemingway loved the sea.

Today, at the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West, you can meet documented descendents of Hemingway's cat.  Their caretakers have carefully recorded the lineage of the cats, and made sure to preserve, through selective breeding, the polydactyl characteristics of these very special kittes.

Want to read more about them, and see pictures of some of them that we took on our visit there?

Or, to learn more about Key West, which Hemingway loved, see Pictures of Key West, the Conch Republic.
